Oral care during adolescence is necessary and must be practice by teens for during this stage they are prone to gum disease cause by increased level of hormones. Hormonal changes during adolescence or puberty is one of the risk factors in having periodontal disease because during these stage there is an increase in sex hormones: progesterone and estrogen. These hormones increases the blood circulation in the gums thus leading to gum sensitivity, and gums are red, swell s and bleed and they feel tender.
During puberty it is important that teens take extra care of their oral health.
